Whirlpool just takes what it wants. Alway has and always will.
We live in Niles, we have heard and read the entire Harbor Shore controversey with Klock Park. We were SHOCKED and APPALLED when attending the PGA tournament on Sunday, to learn about the stolen property of New Products Co. when walking to holes 16 and 17. How could this possibly be? I support and will help defend a local, family owned company who has been a mainstay in the poor city of Benton Harbor for YEARS!!! As a child I grew up attending Silver Beach on most every Sunday during the summer, as a young adult, I took my children to Klock Park. Is the golf course an asset to Benton Harbor? I would say, THIS year, yes; was it worth stealing property OWNED by a well established lifelong company, and NOT keeping the wishes of a family who donated a beautiful piece of property for a PARK forever, ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!! I am ashamed for the parties involved in the theivery….I believe Fred Upton is within that guilty party!
Sounds to me like they didn’t offer enough money to suit your tastes.
And if the plans show encroachment on your property why isn’t it published on this web site or (better yet) shown in this video?
Please visit these pages: HS Development map, Comprehensive Plan, and feel free to read our Legal Complaint. Page 57 of the complaint shows our certified survey of the land.
To date, Harbor Shores has never offered to purchase New Products property. There were some conversations around the purchase of Miller Pond, Harbor Town and New Product’s field. No formal offers were ever made on these properties or the part of the 18th fairway that was developed by Harbor Shores.
Hey Ms Miller this is Will I worked for you from Oct. ’07 – Apr ’10 Thats not right thier just tryin to take your property like that if thiers anything I can do to help let me know I’m in.
Thank you for your support, Will!
Has any attempt been made to purchase your property? Did you seek an injunction during construction of the golf course? Can you lease your property to them? What about a bridge over your entry way?

Robert, excellent questions. Let me address them.
Harbor Shores has never made a contractual offer on any New Products property.
New Products has not saught an injuction–the CEO was always hopeful that they would be able to resolve the dispute. Our goal was not to stop the project. We have always had a good neighbor policy. Our goal is merely to protect this 90 year old business.
Due to the outcome of the Jean Klock Park dispute and the nature of the mortgage backing of Harbor Shores, leasing a portion of land is not an option.
Bridges across our entrances sounds like an easy solution, but due to physical constraints of the property, it is not viable.
